Black History Month- Celebrating Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE Through Art

During Black History Month, which was celebrated in the UK in October, a number of YSJ team members took time out of their usual roles within the journal to celebrate the contributions of black and POC (person/people of colour) scientists. Here, Editor Della Squires chose to celebrate Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE, who is a space scientist, science communicator and presenter of the BBC TV programme \’The Sky at Night\’, through a piece of artwork.

\”I chose Maggie Aderin-Pocock because she is an inspirational black british woman working within STEM. She is also actively promoting the widening participation of people in science\”.
