A Snap of Saturn

NASA has released a spectacular new picture of the planet Saturn taken by the Cassini spacecraft in July. The image was produced as part of The Day The Earth Smiled Project, led by Dr Carolyn Porco. The image was taken during a routine imaging sequence during an event that was anything but routine!
Four months ago, on 19th July an array of images were taken framing Saturn, including its entire ring system and a host of its moons while the Cassini probe was in deep shadow created by the planet\’s eclipse of the Sun. The intent being to catch a precious glimpse of our planet as it would be seen from a billion miles away
