\’Heart shrinking\’ trial to try to stop heart failure starting in Liverpool

In Liverpool, a \’heart shrinking\’ trial is beginning to attempt to save patients with heart failure. Electricity is used to stimulate a nerve leading to the heart, in the hope that it could shrink hearts that are too large, as it has been discovered that \’the more the heart enlarges, the worse the symptoms\’. People with bigger hearts have more trouble with breathing as it has become stretched by losing its ability to pump.
