It has been suspected that there is a strong correlation between Malarial infection and an individual to bacterial infection. However there is yet to be a proof of a direct cause. The bacteria is particullarly associated with Gram-negative bacteria in particular non-typhoidal salmonella infections. The investigation was undertaken in Kenya and Anothony Scott noticed that as malaria admissions decreased, so did hospital admissions with bacteraemia.
