New research has shown that the parting of the Red Sea could have happened, on account of very high wind speeds.
The location of the \’miracle\’ was probably not the Red Sea as such, but a place in the Nile Delta near by. Winds of around 63 mph eastwards blowing overnight could have shifted the water away from the banks, providing a muddy path through the sea, and people would have been able to cross at the least wide spot. Computer simulations have shown that the phenomenon would have allowed Moses and his followers to flee out of Egypt to safety, while their pursuers could not cross.
Carl Drews, the leader of the study, said that \’the simulations match fairly closely with the account in Exodus\’.
