This is a photograph of a confetti gun being fired. I was inspired to capture the exact moment when the chemical energy in the confetti cartridge was converted into kinetic energy, as well as light energy. The image was captured using my Digital SLR camera. To freeze the very fast motion of the confetti, I built a sound triggered circuit that I used to trigger an external camera flashgun. I set my camera to Manual Exposure, and the shutter speed of my camera to Bulb Mode.
