I was with my parents and sister visiting Borough Market when I suddenly caught a glimpse of these two pedal-powered vehicles. I was so curious I quickly took the camera from my Dad and snapped a picture of them as they were pulling away. I later found out that they are called Pedibus. They are made of super strong aluminium lightweight material so that each cyclist is carrying no more than a few extra kilos in comparison to 2-wheel cycling. Each passenger sits on a stool and pedals as he/she would a bicycle. The power generated is used to drive the wheels through a series of chains and pulleys. Each Pedibus can take up to 8-passenger crew and has a cruising speed of up to 8.5 km/hr. CO2 emission is zero as everything is powered by the energy generated by the passengers pedalling. I think this is an environmentally friendly way of going around and it\’s great fun.
